The Cinderella Foundation
The Cinderella Foundation, founded by Diane Stevens, is dedicated to inspiring and mentoring girls ages 10-18, particularly those in high risk and low income situations in the Washington Metropolitan area. The Cinderella program is an innovative curriculum which fosters cultural understanding by teaching hair grooming, by encouraging better communication skills through role playing, providing tutoring and a career center through a mentoring network of professionals.

The staff of Cole Stevens Salon & Day Spa gives pampering services to help build self esteem and teach young women how to care for their hair, skin and nails.

Sierra Leone, West Africa
The civil war in Sierra Leone has rendered devastating effects on the country. It has destroyed many families, homes and businesses. An overwhelming number of men (who had been the sole breadwinners of their families) have been incapacitated due to war injuries and therefore unable to provide for their families. Because of this changing dynamic, women (who for the most part had been unemployed) are now seeking means of employment to sustain their families. In March 2007, Cole Stevens Salon & Day Spa partnered with New Song Bible Fellowship Church (Bowie, Maryland) and went to Sierra Leone, West Africa and conducted a four day beauty curriculum called "Beauty with a Purpose". This program helped to provide a way out of poverty for at least 300 families by teaching cosmetology skills to women who previously lacked the skills to obtain gainful employment or start their own businesses.

The Cole Stevens Team will to travel to Sierra Leone, West Africa in October, 2008 to continue to help the women develop professionally in cosmetology skills.
